First I saw the bright silver light in the upper tangle
of the tall uncut hedgerow, like sunlight and moonlight
in a nest of eagles' dreams;
And then their stillness: There was a slight wind, and against the gentle movement
of the tall dead grass, and the bramble vines
in the field end behind them, they stood out
Clothed invisibly, except for that stillness,
in soft winter browns.

Hold that moment.

When they moved, they took the silence with them.
Together, all three
in a careful line and observant, two with antlers,
silent, magic.
