A recent rain ran into the ditches, more especially on the North Road, which also takes the run-out from two septic tanks; and coming along afterwards in a general sweep of bottles, cans, and non-recyclables, I found this.

Production of Foster Clark Eiffel Tower Lemonade crystals began back in the 1880s, and came to an end in about 1970. Bottles don't carry dates. But a tourist or local threw this one out at least 50 years ago, and it survived in the North Road ditch through past litter-pickings and dredgings, to present itself above a receding water line. What an unexpected, small miracle.
