Absent Friends

Roland Meighan 1937-2014. In the early 2000s, before the yearly conference of Personalised Education Now outgrew our facilities (result!), PETT annually played host to Roland and Janet Meighan and an exciting group of educators, building the new organisation and developing new initiatives. An almost-but-never-really retired Professor of Education, Roland was a founder and director of the prolific Educational Heretics Press, ensuring the Library had a complete set of its books; a director of the Education Now Publishing Co-operative, and trustee and director of the Centre for Personalised Education. The current issue of The Journal of Personalised Education Now is dedicated to his life and work, which overspills its pages: it isn't so easy to contain him. The Personalised Education Now website is here [but not working at time of writing, 2026-03-21].
